We're definitely excited for season 2 of the Definitely, Maybe Agile podcast!

Peter Maddison and Dave Sharrock are ready to tackle the big questions around digital transformation. What does it look like? How can we define it? Why does it all go wrong? These are just some questions they'll be exploring in the upcoming season. But more than just understanding digital transformation, they want to help their listeners recognize where they are in their transformation journey. Is it an agile transformation or a digital transformation? And, of course, no transformation discussion would be complete without challenging some paradigms. So tune in for an exciting season 2 of the Definitely, Maybe Agile podcast!

Welcome to Definitely Maybe Agile, the podcast where Peter Maddison and Dave Sharrock discuss the complexities of adopting new ways of working at scale. Hello, Dave. It's nice to be back again. How are you doing?

Dave

It's been a while, hasn't it? I've had a fantastic summer. It's been good just to kind of get out of the office, if you like, or out of the mindset of what we've been up to. But good to be back as well. It's sort of our season two, isn't it?

Peter

It is, it is. I've also had a lovely summer. It's been great. Did a bit of traveling and uh got to go all over the place and see interesting people, see interesting sites. It was uh it was fun, it was nice, refreshing. So I'm I'm ready for this, I'm ready for season two. Uh so so what's on the cards? What are we going to be talking about?

Dave

Well, I think uh we we've had a few conversations about this. I think one of the things we learned, our season one is basically just over a year of week in, week out topics, uh du jour, if you like. And I think uh what we're going to do with season two is just a little bit more structure around it. And starting off with a look at the sort of behemoth, which is what we've been talking about in many cases, which is what is a digital transformation? What does it look like? How can we define it, or how does the market define it? What do we care about around that digital transformation?

Peter

Yes, and uh I think we'll start with uh what is a digital transformation? And uh uh one of the models we've we've seen for that is this sort of breakdown into four areas. So uh we think we would break it down in a similar way. I'm I'm one I'm looking forward to is why does it all go wrong? That's the one that I'm quite looking forward to digging into in a in a few weeks' time as well.

Dave

Yeah, and a little bit of you know why how do you recognize where you are, whatever a transformation is called is slightly different, perhaps, to what you're in. Uh, I do think we're also going to bring in what's an agile transformation versus a digital transformation. We might wrap up a little bit there. And of course, there's that little twitchy bit that we want to really touch on is transformation has this feel of a behemoth, a big piece of work that needs planning and and lots of buy-in and lots of change happening all at once. And we possibly want to challenge that paradigm, uh perhaps in our closing session.

Peter

I love challenging paradigms. That's one of my favorite things to do. Wake up in the morning, challenge a paradigm. Let's go. So, with that in mind, I'm I'm really looking forward. It sounds like it's gonna be a very exciting season. I'm looking forward to it, and uh, I hope uh all of our listeners will too. And uh so let's get on with it. You've been listening to Definitely Maybe Agile, the podcast where your hosts Peter Maddison and Dave Sharrock focus on the art and science of digital, agile, and DevOps at scale.
